ASA Endorses Concrete, EIFS, Masonry, Marketing Programs

TAMPA, Fla. - Professional certifications and certificates can provide construction employees at all levels with recognition for professional development progress, and the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) is helping to raise awareness of such certification and certificate programs. On Sept. 15 at ASA's 2002 Leadership Forum in Tampa, ASA's board of directors approved ASA's endorsement of seven nationally recognized programs.

ASA endorsed:

  • the Concrete Flatwork Technician and the Concrete Flatwork Finisher certification programs of the American Concrete Institute.
  • the Certified EIFS Mechanic certification program, the Certified EIFS Inspector certification program, and the Certified EIFS Professional certification program of the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industries International.
  • the Contractor College certificate program of the International Masonry Institute.
  • the Certified Professional Services marketer certification program of the Society for marketing Professional Services.

"ASA's endorsement means that ASA believes these programs contribute to the professional development of specialty contractors and their employees," said ASA Executive Vice President E. Colette Nelson. Including these programs, ASA has endorsed 13 certification/certificate programs. For a complete list of programs endorsed by ASA, visit ASA's Web site at www.asaonline.com.

ASA's Task Force on Professional Development, chaired by Pem Eberlein, CPC, of A.P. Eberlein Company, Longmont, Colo., evaluated and recommended the programs.

Founded in 1966, ASA serves 5,500 member companies and is dedicated to improving general business conditions for all subcontractors through unified and cooperative actions. ASA's vision is to be the united voice dedicated to improving the business environment in the construction industry.
